Terms of Service
Last updated: 4 September 2026
These terms are a contract between you and inf. By downloading, installing or using the software, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not install or use the software.
1. Who these terms are with
"inf", "we" and "us" mean [legal entity name and registered address]. "You" means the person or organisation using the software. "Software" means the inf macOS application and any updates we make available.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Software on Macs you own or control, for your own purposes, personal or commercial. That is the whole of what you get; we reserve every right not expressly granted here.
You may not sell, sublicense, rent or redistribute the Software; remove or alter any notices in it; or reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.
3. Requirements
The Software requires a Mac with Apple Silicon running macOS 26 or later. We do not promise it will run on any other configuration, and system requirements may change in later versions.
4. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for how you use the Software. In particular:
- Recording others. The Software records your screen and audio, which may capture other people. Laws on recording differ by jurisdiction and many require the consent of everyone being recorded. You are solely responsible for obtaining any consent the law requires and for complying with all applicable recording, wiretapping, privacy and data-protection laws.
- Other people's data. If your recordings contain personal data of others, you are the controller of that data and responsible for handling it lawfully.
- Workplace and third-party rules. You are responsible for complying with your employer's policies and with the terms of any other service that appears on your screen.
- Your own backups. The Software's data lives on your Mac. Keeping backups is your responsibility.
- Security of your machine. Anyone with access to your unlocked Mac may be able to reach the captured data. Securing your device is your responsibility.
You may not use the Software to record anyone unlawfully, to conduct covert surveillance of people who have not consented, or for any unlawful purpose.
5. Assumption of risk
You download and run the Software at your own risk. Software has bugs. This Software captures and indexes large amounts of sensitive material, and a defect in it could in principle cause data loss, data corruption, excessive resource use, capture of material you did not intend to capture, exposure of material you intended to keep private, or interference with other software on your machine.
By installing the Software you accept those risks. You are responsible for evaluating whether it is appropriate for your circumstances, for backing up anything you cannot afford to lose, and for the consequences of running it on your machine.
6. Third-party services and AI agents
The Software can connect to third-party AI agents through a local MCP server if you choose to enable it. Those agents are operated by others under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control them, we are not responsible for what they do with anything you send them, and we make no promises about their availability, accuracy or security. Your use of them is between you and them.
The Software is distributed via GitHub, and this website loads fonts from Google. Those services are likewise outside our control.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The software is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express, implied or statutory, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free; that defects will be corrected; that it will capture, transcribe, index or retrieve anything accurately or completely; or that any data it stores will be preserved. No advice or information, oral or written, obtained from us creates any warranty not expressly stated here.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will inf, its officers, employees or contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, use, goodwill or business interruption, arising out of or relating to the software or these terms, however caused and on any theory of liability, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the software or these terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the software in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars (US$50).
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude. If you are a consumer, you may have statutory rights that these terms do not affect.
9. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you will indemnify and hold harmless inf and its officers, employees and contributors from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party arising out of your use of the Software, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or of anyone's rights, including any claim brought by a person you recorded.
10. Updates and changes to the Software
We may change, suspend or discontinue the Software, or any part of it, at any time and without liability to you. We are under no obligation to provide updates, fixes or support.
11. Termination
This licence ends automatically if you breach these terms. You may end it at any time by uninstalling the Software and deleting your copies. Sections 4 through 9, 12 and 13 survive termination.
12. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. The revision date at the top will change, and the current version will always be at this address. Continuing to use the Software after a revision means you accept it. If you do not accept a revision, stop using the Software.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [governing law jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of [venue] will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, or of the right to bring proceedings there where the law gives you that right.
14. General
These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the Software. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the unenforceable provision is limited to the minimum extent necessary. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
