Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 September 2026

inf is built so that your recordings never reach us. Capture, indexing, storage and search all happen on your Mac. We do not operate a server that receives your screen contents, your audio, or the text extracted from them.

1. Who we are

This policy covers the inf application for macOS and this website. In this policy "inf", "we" and "us" mean [legal entity name and registered address]. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at team@infinite-memory.xyz.

2. What the application captures

When you enable it, inf records your screen and audio in the background, extracts text from what is on screen, transcribes speech, and builds a searchable index from the result. This material can be extensive and sensitive: it may include messages, documents, credentials shown on screen, and the voices of other people present.

This data is stored locally on your Mac and is encrypted at rest. It is not uploaded to us, and we have no ability to read it. Deleting it is done from within the app or by removing its data directory; deletion is permanent and we cannot recover it for you.

3. What we receive

We do not collect your captured data. The limited information that does leave your machine is described below.

Website

Downloads and updates

The application is distributed through GitHub Releases. When you download it, or when the app checks for a new version, GitHub receives that request and may log your IP address under its own privacy policy. We do not control GitHub's logging.

Support

If you email us, we receive whatever you put in the message, including any logs, screenshots or recordings you choose to attach. Please redact anything sensitive before sending it. We keep support correspondence only as long as needed to deal with the issue.

4. Connecting AI agents

inf can expose your index to AI agents (such as Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other MCP-compatible client) through a local MCP server. This is off unless you turn it on.

When you connect an agent, that agent's provider receives whatever your queries and its responses contain, under that provider's own terms and privacy policy. Data sent this way leaves your machine at your direction. We are not a party to that transfer, we do not control what the provider does with it, and you should read their policy before connecting them.

5. Recording other people

Screen and audio capture may record people who have not agreed to be recorded. Laws on recording conversations differ by jurisdiction, and some require the consent of everyone involved. You are solely responsible for using the app lawfully, including obtaining any consent the law where you are requires. See our Terms of Service.

6. Legal bases and your rights

Because we do not receive your captured data, most data-protection rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) are exercised by you directly in the app, where the data actually lives. For the limited information we do hold (support email and server logs held by our providers), you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to request access to or deletion of that information, and to complain to your local supervisory authority. Where we process such information, we do so on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the site and responding to you. Contact us at team@infinite-memory.xyz to make a request.

We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

7. Children

inf is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

8. Security

The app encrypts its stored data at rest on your Mac. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and the security of the data on your machine also depends on things outside our control, including your device encryption, your account password, your backups, and who else can use your Mac. We cannot guarantee that your data will never be accessed by someone who gains access to your computer.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The revision date at the top will change, and material changes will be noted on this page. Continuing to use inf after an update means you accept the revised policy.
